For most women with private insurance, the cost of a screening mammogram is covered without copayments or deductibles, but women should contact their insurance company for confirmation of coverage. If a diagnostic mammogram or breast ultrasound is necessary, they should also check with their insurance company about coverage.
We promote access to mammography through the “Mammography Bridge” and the “Let No Woman be Overlooked – Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program (BCCP).” Women without coverage or with high insurance deductibles, who meet financial criteria, may qualify for a free or low-cost screening or diagnostic mammogram, or breast ultrasound.
